GLENVIEW — Libertyville’s Tim Harwood finished 54th in the Illinois Open golf tournament at The Glen Golf Course in Glenview last week.

A graduate of Libertyville High School (2007) and Western Illinois (2012), the 24-year-old sees himself as a teacher of golf.

And to that end, he was just named men’s golf coach at College of Lake County in Grayslake.

“I work with CORE golf doing youth clinics, and I also took the job as the CLC head men’s coach,” he said. “I wanted to play well (at the Illinois Open) for the guys. I feel the better I play, the more I can challenge them on the course, and the more they’ll be driven to improve their own games.

“I want to continue playing in a lot of Illinois Section PGA events, but in the long run, I see coaching as my future.”
