MUNDELEIN — The list is growing.

Sean O’Brien, who will be a senior at Mundelein High School, has five scholarship offers so far.

According to Mundelein head basketball coach Richard Knar, the schools include Northern Illinois, Belmont, Elon and Florida Gulf Coast.

Fundamental U club coach Mike Weinstein said another offer came in earlier this week: Nebraska-Omaha.

O’Brien, an honorable mention all-stater (Illinois Basketball Coaches Association), figures to receive more interest during the month of July when Fundamental U competes in three majors tournaments: King James Summer Showcase Chicago (July 12-15), AAU Super Showcase in Orlando (July 18-22) and Fab 48 in Las Vegas (July 25-29).

“A lot of eyes are on him,” said Weinstein.

Last winter, the 6-foot-6 O’Brien, who has point guard skills, averaged 14 points per game for a 26-win team.

“Sean has taken himself to an elite level,” said Knar.
