Updated: July 8, 2012 8:32AM

It will be the 34th annual.

The North Shore Half Marathon and 5K race, which is part of the RAM Racing series, will be held on Sunday.

Runners will gather at the starting line at Park Ave. and St. Johns. The 5K will start at 7:15 a.m. The half marathon will follow at 7:30 a.m.

As usual, world-class runners will go up against local elites. Belainesh Gebre will try to defend his 2011 title.

Gebre has an impressive resume. He finished fourth in last October’s Chicago Marathon, while he took first in 2010 Honolulu Maration. Representing Ethiopia, he competed in the World Cross County Championships in ‘05 and ‘06.

A portion of every half marathan registration benefits Misericordia Heart of Mercy, the race’s official charitable partner.

Deerfield Triathlon

The annual Deerfield Tinman, which is sponsored by the COHO Swim Club, will be held on Saturday at Deerspring Park.

Check-in time will be 7 a.m. The race (300-meter swim, 6-mile bike, 3-mile run) will begin at 8 a.m.

The fee is $30 for residents and $35 for non-residents.
