TENNIS — Adam Morgan is set to play in the Australian Open.
The Mundelein resident, Racquets Associate at the Lake Forest Club, will be representing the United States in the Kia Amateur Australian Open Tennis Tournament on Jan. 26-29 in Melbourne, Australia.
Morgan will be the U.S. representative in both the men’s tournament and the mixed doubles tournament, competing against representatives from 15 other countries.
Morgan won the Midwest qualifying tournament last summer. Then, in October, he competed in a national tourney and lost a close match in the final. But the winner was disqualified for unspecified reasons. Thus, Morgan advances as the U.S. representative.
This will be Morgan’s second appearance in the Australian Open. In 2007, he finished fourth in men’s singles and fifth in mixed doubles. The U.S. took second overall.
