Fundraiser means happy tails for Orphans

The Event: Tails of nearly 600 stray and abandoned animals of Lake and northern Cook counties wagged a little higher on April 22 when more than 190 animal lovers attended the 13th annual Orphans of the Storm benefit at Marriott’s Lincolnshire Resort. For the past 85 years, Orphans has taken in every animal that reached its doorstep, regardless of age, breed or adoptability, in an effort to triumph over the stray and abandoned pet population one animal at a time. The Event: Giordano Dance Chicago celebrated 50 years of enriching the lives of Chicagoans and the world through dance and performance art on March 23. The company marked its half-century with the world premier of a new work, “La Belleza de Cuba,” performed by their troupe on the Pritzker stage at Harris Theater.
