More than 500 Mundelein High School graduates walked down the aisles to receive their diplomas before about 3,000 family and friends at the Libertyville Sports Complex on Sunday. Zach Carter, 17, class valedictorian at MHS high school, said he will miss many things about his high school years. “I’m in band, and I’m definitely going to miss band and all the events that go on throughout the year that we got to spend time on together,” he said. The Mundelein High School Community Education and Alumni Foundation sponsored the MHS Drive ‘n’ Dine event on Sunday, May 6. The fundraiser featured chicken and ribs “drive-through” dining, catered by a local vendor. The chicken and ribs were grilled on site. Patrons were be able to purchase and pick up their food in the west parking lot at the high school and then take their meals home or to a park. Three adult meals were available for $12 each, and one children’s hot dog meal cost $6. Jazmine Perez has seen hard work pay off in better grades at school in the past year. Perez, 14, a student at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Mundelein, began taking her studies more seriously this school year and her grades improved from Ds and Fs to Bs and Cs. “I started realizing the importance of school because I wanted to do something with my life,” said Perez. “My parents always told me to do the work and get good grades and don’t go out with my friends.
