Pat Lenhoff has resided in Vernon Hills for over 3 decades and has been writing her column since summer of 1998, precipitated by the departure for college of her youngest child. She has been married to Stuart (aka the Boss) for almost 40 years and actively participated in local parent-teacher organizations while raising their 3 children.
In addition, she served on the board of directors of Family Service of South Lake County, working on developing the corporate donation program and organizing the annual spring benefits during the mid-1980s.
Pat's work history includes stints in the fields of insurance, real estate and decorative painting. She attended Eastern Illinois University from 1969-72, where she was President of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority and sports editor of the university yearbook, The Warbler. Her professional inspiration is the late Erma Bombeck, whose poignant witty observations on family life were able to connect a diverse audience because of her ability to write about common experiences. Like Ms. Bombeck, Pat hopes one day to be able to write a syndicated column to reach a large audience, or to write a book chronicling the many aspects of family life.
