These grant funds that will support, complement and enhance educational opportunities for the 2,300 students at Fremont.

The foundation received 20 grant requests from teachers, administrators, and other educators in the district. Of those grants, the foundation was able to fund the majority. Grant highlights include:

• iPads, SmartPens and e-books

• Three original jazz compositions for the Fremont Jazz Band

• Outdoor education tables

• Author visits

The Fremont Education Foundation, www.fefsd79.org/Fef, is a nonprofit organization, run solely by volunteers. It aims to provide funding for innovative learning opportunities that enhance education beyond the traditional textbook and classroom model. It operates independently from the board of education and the PTO.
