Lake County students earn collegiate honors

Edgar Nieto, of Mundelein, a student at Dominican University was honored as a Student Laureate by the Lincoln Academy of Illinois during special ceremonies at the State Capitol in Springfield.

The following Mundelein High School seniors have been named semifinalists in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program: Stephen Slaughter and John Syme will be eligible for a number of scholarships offered through the program should they become finalists.

Judith Legorreta of Vernon Hills was named to the 2012 fall semester dean’s list at the University of St. Francis.

Mack Ohnsted of Vernon Hills has been named to the 2012 fall dean’s list at Augsburg College. He is the son of Mark and Bobbie Ohnsted.

Julia Russo of Libertyville was named to the 2012-13 fall semester dean’s list at Brevard College.

Evelyn Ritter, of Libertyville, and a Hope College junior is studying off-cammpus in Granada, Spain through during the 2013 semester. She is a graduate of Libertyville High School and the daughter of Walter and Janet Ritter

Maira Rodriguez, a junior sociology Spanish double major from Mundelein, was awarded the McNair scholarship from St. Norbert College.

Bradley University named the following students from Mundelein to the dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester: Andrea Barr, Susan Bender, Bryan Fite, Kelsey Garrity, Jordan Garcia, Beatriz Haro, Amanda Lavin, Madeline Madura, Jessica Moehling, Nisarg Parikh, Dana Pine, Kelly Prevo, Taylor Rigwood, Ellen Silver, Jeremy Steininger Amy Stramich, Patrick Tan.

Hope College announced the following Mundelein students to the dean’s list for the second semester of the 2012-13 school year: Lauren Ahern, Meghan Ahlgrim, Kerry Boyce, Alexandra Kouzoukas, Anna Lim, Allison Muskat, Ellen Revenaugh, Evelyn Ritter, Claire Triner and Ryan Vander Ploeg.

Illinois Wesleyan University named the following students to the dean’s list for the 2012-13 fall semester:

Libertyville: Athena Cocallas, Carlos Medina, Jacqui Zeng, Jenny Prochotsky and Nikhil Kamath

Mundelein: Karolina Sierzputowska

Vernon Hills: Alex Lang, Brian Kim and Sydney Achler

Northern Michigan University announced the following students named to the dean’s list:

Libertyville: Emily Hunt and Andrew Weiglein

Mundelein: Ariel Egan, Arika Egan, Hillary Peters and Scott Schippers

Winona State University announced the following students named to the dean’s list for the 2012 fall term:

Libertyville: Ryan Carter

Mundelein: Madeline Carroll.
