No registration
– no schedule
Hawthorn families should have already completed registration for the 2012-13 school year. Registration must be complete in order to receive next year’s class schedule. Students entering grades three and six are required to prove residency. Fee payments and health forms are required before school begins in the fall. Students not registered by July 1 will be dropped from enrollment. Re-enrollment will require an in-person visit to District Office to complete a longer student enrollment process, with placement based on space availability. For more information, please visit www.hawthorn73.org/registration or call the District Office at (847) 990-4200.
Summer reading assignments available
Students who will attend Hawthorn middle schools next year (future sixth, seventh and eighth graders) have a reading assignment to complete during the summer. Students are required to read one book from the provided list and complete a short assignment, which is due by Sept. 7. Because reading is such a powerful way for children to stay sharp during the summer, our library media specialists have also put together some book suggestions for students at all grade levels. Check for the lists at www.hawthorn73.org.
Online resources help students over summer
The Learning@Hawthorn website offers a selection of free online resources designed to help keep students thinking over the summer. Visit www.hawthorn73.org/learning and click the Student Resources sidebar.
Bus freeze begins July 19
This year’s bus freeze kicks in on July 19 and will run through Sept. 18. Please have all of your transportation requests completed before July 19 to ensure a smooth transition into the next school year. If you have questions or need forms, please visit www.hawthorn73.org/transportation or call the District’s Transportation Line at (847) 990-4260.
