Students shine at State Science Fair

The State Science Fair Exposition, held May 4 and 5, once again amazed Mrs. Pusateri and Ms. Bautista with the following outstanding results.

At paper session, Michael Kotzan, Christian Ormson, Kristine Chi, Leah Sikand, Anne Hong, Stephen Richardson, Michelle Ji, Darren Ioos, and Tanvi Patel all received the highest honor, a Gold Award. At project session, a Silver Award was given to Stephen Richardson, Christian Ormson, Michael Kotzan, and Travis Qing. Also at project session, a Gold Award was given to Leah Sikand, Kristine Chi, Darren Ioos, and Anthony Brucato.

Because of the high standard of projects and the high number of Gold Awards, Oak Grove also received the Dr. Lyell J. Thomas Award of Excellence. Mrs. Pusateri and Ms. Bautista said it was a pleasure to work with such ambitious, hard working students and they hope the experience will stay with each of them forever and hopefully they have learned what hard work and perseverance can help accomplish in life. Big thank you’s go out to the parents, many of them gave up their weekend to travel down to the University of Illinois to cheer on the Science Competitors. Special thanks to Nancy Richardson, Carl Ioos, and Meena Patel for taking the time to judge and attend the ceremony. Everyone had a wonderful time and a great dinner at Houlihans. Congratulations again to all of the participants for a job very well done!
