WAUKEGAN – A Waukegan woman was held on $3 million bond Friday for allegedly murdering a 3-month-old girl she was babysitting.

Sarah Gumm, 33, of the 1100 block of Bob O’Farrell Lane in Waukegan, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to a Waukegan police release. She was ordered held on $3 million bond Friday.

Emergency personnel responded July 27 to the 1100 block of Bob O’Farrell Lane and found a 3-month-old girl unresponsive, police said. She was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m. at Vista East Medical Center in Waukegan.

An autopsy determined Gumm died from blunt force head trauma that caused a skull fracture and cranial hemorrhage, police said.

Gumm provided a voluntary statement to investigators admitting she caused the infant’s injuries, police said. She told investigators the girl’s parents found her services online and she had been caring for the infant for about six weeks.
