Rush to host skills camp
Players, coaches, dancers and Bruiser the Bulldog will be on hand as the Chicago Rush will be holding a skills camp on Tuesday, June 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Libertyville Sports Complex.
Coach Bob McMillen will be hosting “Arena Football 101,” which will teach newcomers the basics of the game. The Adrenaline Rush Dancers will also be on hand to teach fans the moves that make them one of the top dancer groups in the Arena Football League.
After the clinic concludes, they will be holding their practice on-site, which will be open to the public from 8 to 10 p.m. In addition to the interactive football and dancing lessons, attendees will be able to get pictures and autographs from all Rush personnel in attendance.

Central Y to host kids pool party
Kids ages 7-13 can kick off the summer with an overnight “lock-in” party at the Central Lake YMCA, 700 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. The special event begins on Saturday, June 9, at 5:30 p.m. and continues through 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 10.
Activities include dinner Saturday evening, “glow” swimming in the Central Lake pool, games, movies and finally breakfast on Sunday morning. Children not wanting to stay overnight can be picked up by their parents Saturday at 10:30 p.m.
Registration fees are $20 for members of the Y and $30 for community members. In addition, there are opportunities for parents to serve as volunteer helpers at this event. To sign up, or for more information, visit the Welcome Center at Central Lake YMCA or call (847) 367-6797.
Bicycle club organizes Ramble event
The Bicycle Club of Lake County’s 31st Ramble Bicycle Event will take place Sunday, June 10 at the Kenosha County Fairgrounds in Wilmot, Wisconsin. Ramble draws 500-600 riders primarily from northern Illinois.
The Bicycle Club of Lake County, based in Libertyville, organizes the ride to promote recreational bicycling. The group also supports bicycle advocacy organizations on state and national levels.
Early registration is $17 through June 8 at www.active.com. Registration is $25 day of the event, 6 a.m.-10 a.m. Routes are open 6 a.m.-5 p.m.

Kids fishing derby to be in Vernon Hills
A Kids Fishing Day sponsored by the Vernon Hills Park District will be held on Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Big Bear Lake in Century Park.
Children, ages 5-13 years old, will receive instruction from members of the Libertyville Fishing Club and then fish Big Bear Lake. A limited supply of fishing poles will be available for use. Bait is provided. Prizes will be awarded for “fun fish categories”. Families are welcome, but only children, ages 5-13, can participate in the fishing derby. Pre-registration is required. Sente to host mortgage relief event
To assist area homeowners who are struggling with mortgage payments and facing the threat of foreclosure, State Rep. Carol Sente. D-59th, of Vernon Hills, will host a Mortgage Relief Project outreach event on Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the College of Lake County Southlake Campus at 1120 South Milwaukee Ave. in Vernon Hills.
Attendees will learn about new government programs that can help to lower mortgage payments, legal rights, credit counseling and how to recognize the tell-tale signs of mortgage fraud. HUD-certified counselors will also be present for private, one-on-one counseling to help keep residents in their homes.
Homeowners should be sure to bring their latest mortgage documents (bills, statements, notices, etc), two most recent pay stubs, and a state ID or driver’s license. To register in advance for the event, residents should contact Sente’s constituent service office at (847) 478-9909. Registration the day of the event will begin at 9 a.m. and will last until noon.
MainStreet Libertyville to host golf outing
The 7th annual MainStreet Libertyville Golf Outing is scheduled for June 25 at Bonnie Brook Golf Course in Waukegan. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. The golf outing includes games, contests, massages and other activities on every hole.
Cost for the event is only $110 per player (by June 8th; $125 after). The price includes 18 holes of golf, cart, box lunch, free drinks on the course, cocktail reception with one hour of open bar with appetizers/food carving stations. Prizes will be awarded. For the second year, MJ Seiler will host a live auction featuring a pig roast/music for 40 from Catered Productions plus other items.

Vernon Hills police to run for Special Olympics
On Sunday, June 10, members of the Vernon Hills Police Department will join representatives from law enforcement agencies across Illinois in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
The purpose of the Torch Run is to raise money and increase awareness for the athletes of the Special Olympics.
There are 23 legs of the Torch Run throughout the state. The eighth leg starts in Gurnee at 6:30 a.m. Shortly after 8 a.m, Vernon Hills runners will take the torch at the intersection of Routes 21 and 60. They will run south approximately three miles to Route 22, where the torch will be handed off for the next section of the trip. The journey ends approximately 21 miles south in Lincolnwood, after joining up with another leg of the run in Niles.
