The GLMV Chamber of Commerce rolled out the red carpet at the Cuneo Mansion and Gardens, welcoming about 200 guests – along with spirited Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. imitators – during its glamorous winter gala on Jan. 28.

“I have never been to the Oscars, but with all the glitz and glamour, it feels like I am there,” said Alese Campbell, GLMV executive director.

Following the red-carpet arrival guests, were treated to cocktails and tours of the newly renovated mansion owned by Loyola University. Awards were presented to members of the community and raffle tickets were drawn throughout the evening. Prizes included dinner at Café Pyrenees in Libertyville and gift certificates for spa services.

A lovely dinner was served, during which the crowd was entertained by the Chicago Rat Pack. The show “One Swingin’ Night,” launched with Sinatra favorite “Luck Be a Lady,” sent guests back to 1960s Las Vegas. Following dinner there was dancing, music and entertainment by Music Now DJ Group late into the night.

“It has been fabulous getting all the community together for this great event”, Campbell said.

The GLMV chamber – which covers Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein and Vernon Hills – is off to a great 2012. Lenny Vann, chairman of the board, said the organization is “busy, energetic, and growing.” Just like the Sammy Davis song says, the GLMV chamber has “a lot of livin’ to do.”
