The Village Presbyterian Church Picnic/Fundraiser: 1-2:30 p.m. July 4, 1300 Shermer Road, Northbrook. Free and open to the public. Les Turner ALS Foundation 3rd Annual Strike Out ALS 5K: Time and date TBA, July. U.S. Cellular Field, Chicago. The Strike Out ALS 5K is an exciting race at U.S. Cellular Field that features a rare opportunity to “run the bases” and complete a lap around the ballpark’s warning track. After the race, runners can celebrate with family, friends and White Sox fans at a spectacular party featuring the MLB All-Star Game under the lights of U.S. Cellular Field. The concession stands will be open and the game will be broadcast on the Jumbotron. Admission to the post-race party is free for runners. Donations will be accepted at the gate for non-runners. The Gateway for Cancer ResearchSM Rambo Golf Classic: July 19, Abbey Springs Golf Course, Fontana, WI. The event is held every year to remember Rick Rambo, who died of colon cancer, and raise funds for. emandcurestoday.org ). Organizer Roland Szkwarek says The Gateway’s pledge to put 99 cents of every dollar received toward clinical research for new treatments for cancer patients is the motivation for the donations. Participants will enjoy a buffet breakfast, food and refreshments served under a huge shoreline tent, and a silent auction and raffle. Highland Park Historical Society’s AUTO HISTORICA XII Antique Auto Show and Fundraiser: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. July 21, on the grounds surrounding the Highland Park Historical Society Museum, 326 Central Avenue, Highland Park. European Cars in the Sporting Tradition from the teens to the sixties will be the featured models. Approximately 50 cars will be on display – notably two 1954 Porsches, including one of the earliest Speedsters, as well as a 1920s Vauxhall and Bentley, a 1960 Morgan Plus 4 Drophead Coupé, and a 1959 PTV 250 microcar, the only one of its kind in America. Another highlight will be a 1929 Detroit Electric Car. Event also features a raffle and live auction. Admission is $5; children under 12, accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free. Ravinia Festival Gala Benefit Evening: July 21. The Ravinia Women’s Board hosts the annual black-tie benefit, which begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the north lawn at 5 p.m. followed by a performance by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in the pavilion at 7 p.m. Dinner follows in the Gala Marquee.
